This family came from California to have little "G" baptized as well as some photos. She gave me some of the best expressions during her shoot.
and the three sisters...watching them put makeup on eachother reminded me of how much I wanted a sister when I was growing up
And, as an added bonus, I got to see her cousin, one of my favorite peanuts!
I was so lucky to see this family again - the last time I photographed them the little girl was only a few days old. Her big brother was just as much of a ham as he was the first time around which made it a piece of cake for me! I think the highlight for me though was when he started singing "shake your booty!"
...how much I love using natural light? It's something I don't get to do nearly enough. Most people that call the studio for a session want to come into the studio. The truth is though I would so much rather go to them in their homes, using only natural light. In fact if you look at photos of my own kiddos, they are all done with natural light. I can't remember the last time I took them into the studio. Maybe this summer I'll have to offer a special for in-the-home sessions :)
Here's my little Ash in her room.
Enjoy!
Over the past couple of years I have been so blessed to meet families from all over the country - not just locals. Well I think this family wins the award for traveling the farthest. They came all the way from Alaska! They brought with them two of the funniest, silliest, cutest girls. What goofballs they were! I had an absolute blast and can't wait to photograph them again. Maybe next time I'll get lucky enough to photograph them on their home turf. I can't think of a more beautiful backdrop than Alaska.
big sis - such an active little smartie!
Sweet little *R* melted my heart with that sweet little face. How could anyone resist those eyes?!
Remember that old commercial, "This is your brain, this is your brain on drugs"...? Of course you do. Well, my brain isn't fried from drugs, but from my kids. The post right below this one has some errors. Yes she is a beautiful maternity, NO she is not carrying twins. However, her good friend who I just so happened to photograph the same day IS carrying twins. Those of you who know me well know that I can be a flake at times and this is just another example of that. I often tell my husband (who is a fireman) that it's a good thing I'm not in charge of anything super important, like say, carrying people out of burning buildings. :) Here is the real twin-carrying-mama and brother-to-be
I love this little guy, he's always such a character!
I've been photographing little *G* since before he was born. Here's a comparison shot of mom with pregnancy #1 (one baby) and pregnancy #2 (two babies). Same number of weeks in pregnancy also - isn't this so cool?!
....for prego mommies!
After a very busy holiday season, I was looking forward to a quiet, slow January. Much to my surprise however, our appointments are packed with maternity sessions! I kind of remember this happening last year too, just not to this extent. In fact, I think I remember hearing that there is a month...either towards the very end of the year or the very beginning...that has more births than any other. You would think it would be split evenly between the 12 months but it's not. If you know what I'm talking about, post a comment and let us all know which month it is.
So, here is one of my recent mommies-to-be. So much fun, and so great in front of the camera.
For those of you who don't know, I am starting a new studio for high school seniors called Studio B (the B is for Bottega which is an Italian word for an artist's studio). This is going to be very different from the senior photos we did when we were in school. No boring cap n gown with arms folded perfectly. These photos are fun, edgy, and of course capture the unique personality in each teen. ( the tag line is : the fun you, the original you, the real you).
Here is my most recent senior, and it just so happens to be his birthday today. Happy Birthday Wes!
